Pizzas

Basic Pizza sauce recipe
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 6-8 tomatoes (blanched, peeled and deseeded)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 capsicum finely chopped
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds

Puree tomatoes once they are cool. Heat oil and saute garlic, onions and capsicum. Add puree and bay leaf. Cook covered for about to minutes. Finally add fennel seeds. Take out bay leaf and store in a jar. You can add herbs of your choice while cooking.

Basic pizza bread

  • Ingredients:
  • 500g flour
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 2 tsp fresh yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Warm milk or hot water

Mix the yeast, sugar and warm water. Keep aside till it froths. Sieve maida. Make a well in the centre and pour yeast mixture. Knead a soft dough using warm milk. Cover and keep aside for about till it doubles in size. Punch and knead dough again for 3-4 minutes. It prevents formation of air bubbles. The dough must be firm and elastic. Roll out of the dough into 1/4 inch thickness for pizza base. Cover with a wet muslin cloth and allow to rise for some time. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degree c for 10 mins.

Thin Crust Pizza
