Along
Came Polly Trivias
The 1994 earthquake was at 4:31 AM. Very few parents read to their kids at
4:30 in the morning.
Rupert
Grint had got the role as Austin, but had to drop the role because he was
busy making Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004).
When Austin
is hanging a "looking for" poster in the high school, it moves around
between shots of him talking to his friends.
The
necklaces around Carter's neck in his first scene were taped on to his shirt
to avoid any noise the microphone would pick up.
When Carter
and Sam are hurrying to get back to the diner, they pass the same Jiffy Lube
and at least one of the same cars (the Volvo) in the background several
times.
The number
"609" at the end of Chad Michael Murray's online screen name is the actual
area code for the Princeton area, referred to throughout the movie.
When Sam is
in Rhonda's house, she is looking through items in a red bowl and says,
"Rhonda, you sure do have a knack for taking something simple and making it
beautiful." The mask is not in front of the red bowl at this time. She walks
over to Rhonda and looks at the dress with her. When the camera goes back to
the red bowl, the mask is propped up against it, though neither Rhonda nor
Sam had time to place it there.
In the
scene near the end at the football game. The ball being used in the game is
a regulation college football. It is visible by the stripes on the ball.
Regulation college football stripes are visible on only half the ball, while
regulation high school footballs are marked with stripes all the way around
the football. Additionally, professional league footballs have no stripes at
all.
All
regulation high school football games across the nation only run in
12-minute quarters. The game starts theWhen Reuben and Lisa enter their
honeymoon suite, he drops her as he carries her over the threshold. She
falls on her left side, yet it's the inside of her right thigh that is
bruised.
After Reuben has used Polly's special "Sponge", he stands at the door with
the sponge wrapped in a plastic bag without anything printed on it. The next
shot of the bag shows that it has red and blue printing.
When Reuben and Lisa are lying on the beach, there is nothing in the
background in the first shot of Lisa, but in the second shot we see people
lying on deckchairs, and Claude's boat.
Ferrets do make sounds as heard in the movie; however, generally, they are
as quiet as rabbits. However when excited over a new experience or playing
with other ferrets or their owner it is quite common to do what owners term
"their happy dance" and they often make sounds very similar to that heard in
the movie. That said, the "whining" sounds made near the end while "left"
behind the closed door to the sidewalk is not normal. Additional ferret
fact: California and Hawaii (where the movie was mostly filmed) were/are the
only two states where ferrets are totally illegal to own as pets at the time
it was filmed.
The movie poster for Sandy Lyle's only film is a direct copy of the poster
for The Breakfast Club (1985)
At one point, Jennifer Aniston was shooting "Friends" (1994), Bruce Almighty
(2003) and this movie at the same time.
Ben Stiller mentioned while on a talk show promoting the film that the
ferret bit him a couple of times during production, including one time
latching onto his chin.
As the plane approaches St. Barts, the shadow of the plane can be seen on
the water, it is clearly a single engine aircraft, but as it lands and
taxies in, it is a twin-engine plane.
When Reuben is playing racquetball with Leland Van Lew, Leland smacks his
face into the wall and his mouth begins to bleed. When Reuben points out to
Leland that he is indeed bleeding, Leland reaches into mouth and pulls out a
tooth. While he does this it is apparent that he is missing a tooth towards
the front of his mouth. The next time we see him, he is smiling and he has
all his teeth.
Reuben (Ben Stiller) writes a list to compare Polly (Jennifer Aniston)
against Lisa (Debra Messing). This is found by Polly and leads to an
argument. This is similar to Season 2 of "Friends" (1994) when Rachel
(Aniston) is compared to Ross's (David Schwimmer) current girlfriend.
The building Leland van Lew jumps off of in Los Angeles is the AT&T Tower
(611 W. 6th Street), designed by William L. Pereira in 1969 as the city's
tallest skyscraper.
When Reuben climbs aboard the sailboat when he goes to pick up Lisa after
her scuba excursion, he would have had to wade through fairly deep water,
yet he arrives on board completely dry.
In the very last scene where Rodolfo the Ferret runs into the palm tree you
can clearly see the tracks in the sand of the animatronic ferret's wheels
used in all the scenes where he runs
During the film's climactic scene at the Hell's Kitchen Community Center,
Reuben's tie is knotted with a deep dimple. Seconds later, outside the
community center with Sandy, the tie has no dimple.
During the party scene at the art show, Polly's friend, miming sexual
actions with a loaf of French bread, replaces the bread from where she got
it, but in the next shot of her, she's still holding the bread.
When Reuben and Sandy are at the pizza place, Reuben rubs the straw paper
into a ball, then in the next shot he's wrapping it around his finger.
