13 Going On 30 Trivias
When Jenna is on the street about to go to Matt's apartment before the
wedding the part in her hair is on her right side but the next scene when
she's at the apartment, the part is on her left side
When Jenna is getting ready for the party, she puts a lot of make-up on. In
the next shot, her makeup is toned down significantly.
In Australia, the title was changed to "Suddenly 30" because distributors
thought audiences would misunderstand the original title.
When Jenna realizes there is a man in her bathroom, she grabs the umbrella
and undoes the strap around it. In the next shot, the strap is attached
again, and in the shot after that goes back to being unattached when she
opens in front of him.
The editor in chief pins a picture of J-Lo on the wall and it changes
position from being perfectly straight to very crooked between shots.
The blindfold Jenna is wearing when she is 13 is made out of the same
material/pattern as the eye cover she is wearing when she wakes up when she
is 30.
When Matt is taking their picture at the end, his hand position on the
camera changes between shots.
When Matt gives back the Dream House to Jenna in his old bedroom in 2004,
there is no visible wishing dust on the roof, just a little of it stuck to
the side wall. However there is plenty of it on the roof later when Jenna
sits down in the backyard and the wind starts to whirl it up.
The Poise article that Jenna is reading at 13 ("Thirty, Flirty & Thriving"),
features the apartment that she later lives in at 30.
When Jenna first visits Matt after going 30, he opens the door immediately
with only a chain holding the door. After he invites her in, several locks
are heard before he opens the door again.
Originally Young Matt was to be played by Jack Salvatore Jr.. Test audiences
reacted negatively towards him and the girl originally playing Young Jenna (Shana
Dowdeswell), so the parts were re-cast and the scenes were shot again.
When Jenna and Lucy are talking on the street before going up to the office
for the first time, the people walking by behind them jump around between
shots.
As the Six Chicks enter Jenna's birthday party, they put her coats in her
hands. However, the shot changes as they do this, seven coats are placed in
her hands instead of six.
When Jenna goes into her closet to get dressed for the party, her hair is up
and in curls, but when she finally leaves, and for all the subsequent
scenes, her hair is up but straight
When Jenna is flipping through her mail just after waking up as a 30
year-old, one of the letters is from Sparkle.
When Jenna hears the cell phone ring for the first time in her apartment and
goes to investigate, we see a sofa table with some umbrellas attached, and a
jacket draped over a box with the box visible to the left. Then, as she
looks back, the box has changed position and is more to the right, buried
beneath the jacket.
It was shipped to theatres under the name "Sugar and Spice".
When Jenna and Lucy are standing outside the club where they have just had
drinks, Lucy pulls out a cigarette as Jenna is talking to Matt. She is
holding it in her right hand and as she says she is going back inside she
puts the cigarette in her left hand with her lighter. She turns to walk back
in and the cigarette is back in her right hand.
While at the party to promote Poise Magazine, the level of Jenna's drink
changes repeatedly between shots.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Hilary Swank and Renée Zellweger were all considered for
the lead role.
When the "six chicks" come to Jenna's party, they all hand her their
jackets. Jenna is handed seven jackets (two of them twice) due to switching
of camera angles.
When Jenna discovers that Sparkle magazine stole her redesign concept, she
walks out of her office and a bus passes by with a billboard advertising the
new issue of Sparkle, featuring her design, "on newsstands now". There is no
way they could have received the design info on one day and re-done,
distributed and marketed the magazine by the next.
When Matt and Jenna are at Jenna's place the Diet Coke can turns around
between shots.
During the confrontation between the 30-year-old Jenna and Lucy after Lucy
had betrayed Jenna, Lucy refers to "Bambi" as a "her". The Disney cartoon
character Bambi is a boy.
Many of the "Thriller" dancers were choreographer Marguerite Pomerhn
Derricks own dancers, and one of them was producer Gina Matthews.
After Richard hugs Jenna immediately after she presents her new magazine
design, he tells the group when they will present it to corporate. The audio
says "tomorrow morning", while his lips clearly say "Friday morning".
In 1987, Matt shares his Razzles candy with Jenna, but the package is blue.
In 1987, Razzles packages were white.
At Jenna's 13th birthday party in 1987, they are drinking Diet Coke from
cans with post-2003 graphics.
When Lucy is telling Jenna how to act outside the Poise Magazine building,
the same extras walk past more than twice each. Also, there are people
walking behind Lucy that we don't see in the close-ups of Jenna, even though
they are standing next to each other.
