Vitamin B9-Folic Acid

Another vital member of the vitamin B group is Vitamin B9 or Folic Acid. It is also known as folacin or folate. This vitamin can be destroyed by certain cooking methods sulphur drugs, sunlight and food processing techniques.

Combination of Folate with Cyanocobalamin or vitamin b12 is substantial for formation, multiplication, rowth and development of red blood cells. It also manufactures some nerve transmitters and helps in division of all body cells,including nerve cells. It helps to carry on the heriditary patterns by producing nucleic acids, RNA(ribonucleic Acid) and DNA(Deoxyribonucleic Acid).

Folic acid is an essential nutrient for foetus development and pregnant women. Consumption of food rich in folacin from the time of conception results in a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
